Test Shoot with Arielle Chambers

East Williamsburg, New York, February 202

Arielle Chambers is a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, ESPN commentator, and one of the founding voices behind what became Warner Bros. Discovery's HighlightHER, a platform dedicated to women's sports coverage. She has been named to Sports Illustrated's 100 Influential Women in Sports and has won a Webby Award for her work. She walked runway during New York Fashion Week before any of that was on her resume, which is where we first crossed paths. We connected later through Instagram and arranged this shoot.

This was a full day at a production studio in East Williamsburg with three models, makeup artist Schanica Pickens, and a cyc wall with big windows. The looks came together on the spot from a mix of what Ari brought and what I had on hand. Models who test regularly get tired of their own wardrobe. Having something new to work with changes what happens in front of the camera. Ari came in with ideas, asked for direction as the shoot developed, and was clear about what was working and what wasn't. That kind of collaboration produces better work than either person directing the other. It was a very fun test shoot.

Three looks. A burgundy pleated wide-leg pant paired with a white tank, clean and unadorned. A head-to-toe camel set: wide-leg trousers and a cropped patent leather moto jacket worn open, the monochromatic palette doing the work. A red and black polka dot fit-and-flare dress, belted at the waist, with pearls. The dress ran two directions: styled with a black faux fur coat and patent platform boots, then stripped back to the dress alone on a stool, barefoot, which is where the session opened up.
